DETROIT'S MARINE POLLUTION CONTROL JOINS ALLIANCE TO CREATE COMPREHENSIVE CRISIS RESPONSE ORGANIZATION

DETROIT, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit's Marine Pollution Control (MPC), one of the world's most experienced companies in oil and hazardous material spill control, has joined an alliance with three other companies which will provide response services -- salvage, lightering, firefighting and towing -- which combined are not available from any one organization with the experience or equipment of the alliance, the company announced today.
Combined, the four companies have 250 years of experience in responding to emergencies, said David Usher, MPC president.
Usher said the alliance includes Crowley Marine Services, Moran Services Corporation and Williams Fire and Hazard Control.
"This alliance provides unprecedented services from one dispatch center for the tanker industry," said Usher. "All four companies involved have years of experience and this alliance will not only reassure the industry but the public as well that if a disaster occurs, the alliance will respond quickly and effectively with all these services."
The alliance will provide complete services in salvage, lightering, firefighting and emergency towing in U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port Zones on all U.S. coasts.
The organization will maintain vessels, personnel and emergency response equipment in 20 ports throughout the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
Marine Pollution Control has participated in the cleanup of many of the world's major oil spills for the last 25 years, including the Exxon Valdez and the Persian Gulf.
