CANYON COUNTRY - The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  sheriff's station plans to reopen its east-side satellite - this time in the defunct Canyon Country Library.

When a new library opened last year, the county sold the old library property near Soledad Canyon Soledad Canyon is a long narrow canyon / valley located in Los Angeles County, California between the cities of Palmdale and Santa Clarita. Soledad Canyon contains the localities of Vincent, Acton, Ravenna, and Agua Dulce.  Road and Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling  to the William S. Hart Union High School District, which will allow space free of charge for a small sheriff's substation.

The Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  City Council is expected to approve the plan Tuesday. If approved, the new satellite will serve as the base for the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Sheriff's Department's Volunteer Bike Patrol. Until last month, the satellite office was in a storefront in the Soledad Entertainment Center west of the old library, but lost that space to a paying tenant.

The satellite allows for a Sheriff's Department presence in the eastern Santa Clarita Valley, giving residents there better access to law enforcement. The main station is across town in Valencia, but in 1998 city and sheriff's officials agreed to station four deputies and a sergeant in Canyon Country.

The team focused on community cleanups and reducing crime, following a similar effort in east Newhall that helped cut major crime and improve community participation, according to according to

The Hart district paid the county $350,000 for the old library property and plans an occupational training center there, to open in the fall. That sum was half the original price of the property, which includes a 5,050-square-foot building.
