DEPUTIES SEEK CLUES TO CYCLIST'S IDENTITY.

NEWHALL - Authorities have yet to identify the man who was hit and killed as he rode his bicycle in traffic lanes on San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  on Saturday night.

Described as a Latino man on a red Roadmaster mountain bike, the victim was riding south on San Fernando Road near Oak Ridge Oak Ridge, city (1990 pop. 27,310), Anderson and Roane counties, E Tenn., on Black Oak Ridge and the Clinch River; founded by the U.S. government 1942, inc. as an independent city 1959.  Drive just after 8 p.m. when he was hit by pickup truck traveling the same direction, authorities said.

The driver, Liborio Lopez, 35, of Castaic, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol.

While the collision is still under investigation, Slater said, initial evidence at the scene indicated the bicyclist was traveling in the path of traffic in the dark, without reflectors or lights, and may have been wearing headphones Head-mounted speakers. Headphones have a strap that rests on top of the head, positioning a pair of speakers over both ears. For listening to music or monitoring live performances and audio tracks, both left and right channels are required. .

``There were headphones at the scene, out of (the victim's) back pack,'' Slater said. ``From what we have so far, the evidence clearly put the bicyclist out in the road on San Fernando instead of on the curb. It appears that the bicyclist was out in traffic for some unknown reason.''
