PALMDALE - Sheriff's deputies seized nearly $27,000 worth of methamphetamine methamphetamine (mĕth'ămfĕt`əmēn): see amphetamine; methedrine.  at three homes and marijuana marijuana or marihuana, drug obtained from the flowering tops, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa (see hemp) or C. indica; the latter species can withstand colder climates. , as well as more than a dozen guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition at a mobile home.

Thirteen people were arrested Thursday and Friday in connection with what deputies said were two independent drug-sale operations.

``This whole thing was just based on a tip,'' said Sgt. Kyle Bistline, leader of the Palmdale Partners Against Crime team. ``That's what happens when concerned residents say something. Most of the arrests came Thursday night after a week of surveillance of a home in the 900 block of East Avenue P-8, where deputies were told that prostitution and drugs use were going on.

Nine people were arrested leaving the home on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, and an ex-convict who had been deported from the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Evidence at the house, which included a list of people who owed money for various amounts of drugs, led deputies to a home in the 38000 block of Prentiss Avenue, where they arrested two other men on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sales.

At those homes and one more in the 38500 block of 10th Street East investigators found about a pound of methamphetamine, which they said was worth nearly $27,000.

At none of the homes did investigators find any evidence of prostitution, although investigators say it was likely that women had sex with the sellers for drugs.

On Friday morning, deputies received a tip that a resident at the Grecian Isles Mobile Home park in the 4000 block of East Avenue R might be dealing drugs.
