DENTSPLY International Acquires Darway Inc.Business Editors YORK, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2000 DENTSPLY International (Nasdaq-XRAY) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Darway Inc., of San Mateo San Mateo (săn mətā`ō), city (1990 pop. 85,486), San Mateo co., W Calif., on San Francisco Bay; inc. 1894. It is a commercial and retail center with some high-technology manufacturing. San Mateo, Spanish for St. , CA, in a cash transaction valued at approximately $3.4 million. The acquisition of this business is expected to add approximately $1 million to DENTSPLY's annual sales. Darway manufactures the patented Palodent Contoured Sectional Matrix System. A matrix band or section is used by dentists to provide a means to contain filling material when the restoration of a tooth requires removing tooth structure that faces an adjacent tooth, the tongue or the cheek. While conventional matrix bands wrap around the entire tooth, the uniqueness of the Palodent System is that only the area being restored needs to be isolated. This provides better contours and contacts and requires less time on the part of the dentist in completing the procedure. Commenting on the transaction, Mr. John C.
