DENSO Announces Four-wheel Motor Sport Sponsorship for 2006.

) - DENSO Corporation today announced its four-wheel motor sports sponsorship plan for the 2006 season. DENSO will continue to sponsor teams in motor sports including Formula 1 and World Rally Championship.

DENSO Senior Managing Director Michio Fukuzaki was quoted as saying, "We participate in the sponsorship of motor sports to improve our name recognition and corporate image around the world. Formula 1 (F1)

In addition to acting as a corporate sponsor for the third consecutive season, DENSO will continue to support Panasonic Toyota Racing through the supply of spark plugs, radiators, oil-coolers and alternators to the F1 car. The DENSO logo will appear on the engine cover, driver helmet, uniform, and upper-side of the entry duct of the side pontoon pontoon, one of a number of floats used chiefly to support a bridge, to raise a sunken ship, or to float a hydroplane or a floating dock. Pontoons have been built of wood, of hides stretched over wicker frames, of copper or tin sheet metal sheathed over wooden . Beginning this season, the logo will also appear around the neckwear of uniforms.

World Rally Championship (WRC)

DENSO will also continue to support the Subaru World Rally Team The Subaru World Rally Team is a racing team formed by Subaru in 1989 to compete in the World Rally Championship.[1] It entered its first car, a Prodrive prepared Legacy in 1990.  as a corporate sponsor, again for the third consecutive season. DENSO will also continue to supply spark plugs and sensors for the engine management system of the WRC car. In addition to the DENSO logo appearing on the front fender, "Iridium iridium (ĭrĭd`ēəm), metallic chemical element; symbol Ir; at. no. 77; at. wt. 192.22; m.p. about 2,410°C;; b.p. about 4,130°C;; sp. gr. 22.55 at 20°C;; valence +3 or +4.  Power," the brand name for DENSO spark plugs, will be added to the rear pillar beginning this season.

DENSO's sponsorship of motor sports began in the early 1970s and extends to teams and riders in two-wheel motor sports, in addition to four-wheel motor sports.
