Albuquerque Sandia was more disciplined at the plate and crossed it a few more times in a 6-3 win over the Demonettes.

Sandia is 7-0 in 2AAAAA, while the Demonettes have fallen to 1-4. Overall, Santa Fe is 13-6.

"Sandia is real patient, and doesn't go for bad pitches," Demonettes head coach Sig Rivera said. "We've just got to be patient at the plate, because we're swinging at pretty much anything we see."

The Demonettes had reason for being so anxious.

They've played just three games in three weeks after bad weather has postponed four games.

The result is a stretch of seven games next week to close out 2AAAAA play.

"The long layoff has taken an affect on us," Rivera said.

Backed by pitcher Sandra Serna who had 15 strike outs, the Lady Matadors scored twice in the third, three times in the fifth and once in the sixth.
