 has a new state-of- the-art security system, developed and installed by Delta Scientific Corp. of Valencia.

With the nation's financial capital reeling from the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on World Trade Center's Twin Towers, Nasdaq is the most recent institution to install Delta's highest crash-rated bollard bol·lard

The stock market headquarters planned the security upgrade more than a year before the terrorist attacks, but only recently was the system installed and operating.

The bollards are strong barricades that are raised and lowered into the guard position by a remote-controlled precision power system. Under emergency conditions, these bollards can be raised in a split second.

Delta supervised the layout, construction, wiring and system start-up for the project. Engineers also trained Nasdaq personnel to operate the system.
