DELTA PROTECTS REAGAN LIBRARY VALENCIA COMPANY'S BARRIERS CAN THWART TERRORIST ATTACK.

VALENCIA - The decorative barriers that surround the Ronald W. Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  are actually strong enough to block a terrorist vehicle, Valencia-based Delta Scientific, which manufactured and installed the devices, announced this week.

 systems at embassies, government buildings and other potential target facilities around the globe, installed the barriers to protect the library, where the former president was buried in June. The project was kept top secret until this week, a company official said.

``Delta Scientific bollards are used around the globe to protect strategic and symbolic buildings such as embassies and houses of parliament Houses of Parliament: see Westminster Palace. ,'' said Scott Altizer, high security systems applications engineer at Delta Scientific. ``The decorative bollards installed at the Ronald W. Reagan Presidential Library and Museum not only complement their surroundings aesthetically, but they can stop an attacking vehicle in its tracks.''

The 13-year-old library is not only a visitors center, but a gathering spot for researchers who review the extensive archives. There are nearly 50 million pages of documentation, more than 1.5 million photographs and large amounts of film and videotape videotape
