The Number of Cities Served Nonstop
ORLANDO, Fla., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) today inaugurates two new daily nonstop services from Orlando.
Earlier today, airport and local officials joined Charles Stewart, Delta's district marketing manager, in the Delta Flight Center at Orlando International Airport for ceremonies marking the airline's first service between Orlando and the U.S. Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix. Later this evening, Delta will inaugurate its first nonstop service from Orlando to San Francisco.
"Delta continues to increase its commitment to the Orlando hub operation with this latest service expansion," Stewart said. "Not only do the new flights to San Francisco and to St. Thomas and St. Croix provide new travel opportunities and conveniences to our customers in central Florida, they provide excellent connection options through Orlando International to travelers and shippers across Delta's route system. The resulting increased awareness of our area will certainly benefit local tourism and commerce."
Both the San Francisco and Virgin Islands flights operate with 187-passenger Boeing 757 aircraft offering two classes of comfort and service. The new services increase Delta's presence in Orlando, bringing to 90 the number of daily flights here and offering central Florida passengers nonstop service to 35 destinations and direct and connecting service to hundreds of cities worldwide.
The airline plans to bring more nonstop international service to Orlando this summer. Subject to government approval, Delta will inaugurate four nonstop flights per week from Orlando to Paris on June 4, 1992. A major global carrier, Delta serves 221 cities in 34 countries around the world.
