DELTA AIR ENHANCES FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM WITH NEW AROUND-THE-WORLD AWARD

DELTA AIR ENHANCES FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM
 WITH NEW AROUND-THE-WORLD AWARD
ATLANTA, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective Sept. 1, members of Delta Air Lines' (NYSE: DAL) Frequent Flyer program may redeem miles for travel on an "Around-The-World" award.
The award features travel on Delta and its global Alliance partners Singapore Airlines and Swissair.
"This first of its kind 'Around-The-World' award with our Alliance partners significantly enhances Delta's Frequent Flyer Program," said Robert Coggin, senior vice president - marketing.
The "Around-The-World" award can be redeemed for one free Economy Class ticket for 290,000 miles and one Business Class ticket for 390,000 miles. A First Class ticket is 540,000 miles and is redeemable by Delta's Medallion level members only. The award requires a minimum of three stops and a maximum of six.
At the same time, Delta will join Swissair's frequent flyer program "Qualiflyer" and Swissair will expand its participation in the Delta Frequent Flyer program by adding awards for travel within Europe and to destinations in Africa and the Middle East. This brings the total number of award destinations offered by Swissair to over 75 and will open up travel opportunities for Delta's European-based members. The frequent flyer enhancements are subject to various governments' approval.
Since establishing the Alliance in 1989, the three airlines have implemented numerous other services and cost-saving programs in addition to the frequent flyer benefits, such as their around-the-world fares, through check-in services, code-sharing, joint promotions and advertising, and shared facilities. Together the Alliance members operate more than 3,200 flights daily to more than 300 destinations around the globe.
