CONTRACT WITH AVAILABILITY OF UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
FILLERS Delrina Corporation, the world leader in electronic forms processing, today announced the availability of Delrina FormFlow(TM) Fillers on several UNIX platforms. FormFlow Fillers are immediately available for SGI (SGI, Sunnyvale, CA, www.sgi.com) A manufacturer of workstations and servers, founded in 1982 by Jim Clark. The company was founded as Silicon Graphics, Inc., but changed to its acronym in 1999.  (Silicon Graphics), Sun Solaris 2.3, and Sun OS 4.1.3, with additional support for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) IBM's Unix-based operating system which runs on its Intellistation workstations and pSeries, p5, iSeries and i5 server families.  and HP/UX HP/UX Hewlett-Packard UNIX operating system

to follow. The product supports any X-Windows graphics display with OSF/Motif or OpenLook Windows Managers. UNIX clients can now participate in business processes along with the Windows and DOS clients.

Delrina FormFlow is comprised of two components, Designer and Filler. Designer allows users to create intelligent forms and sophisticated forms applications. The Filler component enables users to electronically fill in forms and run forms applications such as procurement applications and expense reporting and tracking, developed in Designer. The UNIX Fillers are virtually identical to the existing Windows 3.1 version. This includes comprehensive e-mail and database integration, with support for SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) The standard e-mail protocol on the Internet and part of the TCP/IP protocol suite, as defined by IETF RFC 2821. SMTP defines the message format and the message transfer agent (MTA), which stores and forwards the mail.  through a bridge to most mail systems, including MHS (1) (Message Handling Service) An earlier messaging system from Novell that supported multiple operating systems and other messaging protocols, including SMTP, SNADS and X.400. It used the SMF-71 messaging format. , Microsoft Mail An earlier and simple messaging system from Microsoft that runs on PC and AppleTalk networks. Gateways are available to a variety of mail systems including X.400, PROFS and MHS. Microsoft Mail-enabled applications are written to the MAPI programming interface. See Microsoft Exchange. , Lotus cc:Mail and Lotus Notes Mail, and, on the database side, support for ASCII ASCII or American Standard Code for Information Interchange, a set of codes used to represent letters, numbers, a few symbols, and control characters. Originally designed for teletype operations, it has found wide application in computers.  and dBASE. In addition, the Sun Solaris 2.3 Filler supports Oracle databases.

"For better or worse, most corporations are not homogeneous environments, but heterogeneous collections of machines and workstations," said Karl Wong, Workgroup Software Analyst for Dataquest, a San Jose-based market research firm. "When expanding an electronic forms solution across the enterprise, IS departments must accommodate all operating systems in order to be truly successful. The immediate availability of FormFlow UNIX Fillers, coupled with future support for additional platforms, demonstrates Delrina s commitment to enterprise-wide computing."

Delrina is completing development for a Macintosh Filler and is laying the groundwork for the move to other 32 bit environments such as Windows 95. The Macintosh Filler is currently in beta with general availability scheduled for Q3, 1995. The Windows 95 Filler will be available in 1996. In addition, IBM has certified FormFlow for operation under OS/2 using Win OS/2. The Electronic Forms Business Unit strategy is to support all client platforms used extensively by its customer base and prospective customers.

As a direct result of the availability of UNIX Fillers, FormFlow won a place in Government Technology Services, Inc.'s (GTSI GTSI Government Technology Services, Incorporated
GTSI Greyhound Travel Services, Inc. (former subsidiary of Greyhound Lines)

) award on NASA s Scientific Engineering Workstation Procurement (SEWP) contract, and became available for ordering as of July 20, 1995. The contract now includes the FormFlow Starter Kit (which includes a Designer, two Fillers, Crystal Reports, a training video and full documentation) and all quantity packs up to 1000 users for Windows and UNIX. Any federal agency, civilian or defense, that has an arrangement with NASA can order from the contract.

"We evaluated several electronic forms packages and concluded that Delrina FormFlow is the best multi-platform enterprise solution available," said Nathan Dolly, Senior Programmer Analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Shield A US not-for-profit health care insurer that is a reimbursement intermediary for physicians. Cf Blue Cross.  of Oregon, a beta tester of Delrina UNIX fillers for Solaris. "We need a forms package that provides both Windows and UNIX clients. For ten months, we have been using the beta version of the Delrina UNIX Filler as a central repository for forms information, as opposed to storing it on the network or the desktop. The UNIX Fillers serve as a central tracking point for forms information."

"The release of FormFlow UNIX Fillers extends our market leadership position in electronic forms processing," said Teddy Rosenberg, General Manager, Delrina Electronic Forms Business Unit. "FormFlow is being used by corporate and government customers in true enterprise-wide solutions across multiple platforms."

About Delrina FormFlow

Delrina FormFlow allows users to leverage their existing technology investments to automate business processes. With FormFlow 1.1 users with little or no programming experience can quickly create sophisticated forms applications with conditional routing and deploy them across their organization using their e-mail systems. The result is automation of business processes that takes weeks, not months. FormFlow Fillers are currently available for Windows, DOS, and now several flavors of UNIX, with Macintosh and Windows 95 versions to follow. Delrina FormFlow allows Windows, DOS, and UNIX hardware; the most popular e-mail systems; the most commonly used desktop/SQL databases; and enterprise information sharing platforms, such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange; to be combined in forms-based applications. With the rapid adoption of distributed LAN-based computing, more organizations are seeking a complete forms workflow offering like Delrina FormFlow.

Delrina FormFlow has been selected as the electronic forms product of choice in a comparative e-forms review in the June 26, 1995 issue of Information Week. FormFlow also received the Windows Magazine Recommended Award (June 1995) in a head-to-head electronic forms comparison and was recognized as the Government Best Buy in Federal Computer Week (March 1995). Delrina FormFlow has been ranked by the editors of PC Magazine as the premier forms-based application creation environment for automating workflow (Editors Choice, June 1994) and the best forms processing software by the editors of PC Magazine and InfoWorld (Editors Choice, March 1994/InfoWorld, May 1994).
