DELL, INTEL AND XPOINT JOINTLY DEMONSTRATE I2O-READY ENTERPRISE SERVER AT COMDEX.


LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 19, 1996--Dell, Intel and Xpoint are jointly presenting a demonstration of an enterprise server solution based upon Dell's I2O-ready PowerEdge 6100 server and Xpoint's innovative I2O (Intelligent I/O) A standard for offloading input and output to an auxiliary processor. The auxiliary processor (I/O processor) manages the data transfer while the CPU does something else.  acceleration software, BusBIOS(TM) for I2O. The demonstration consists of an industry standard benchmark that illustrates the powerful I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device.
