DELIVERYMAN FAILS TO STOP SUV THEFT.

NEWHALL - A pizza deliveryman tried in vain to save his new SUV from a thief who snagged it after he left the keys in the ignition, a sheriff's detective said Thursday.

The Ford Explorer is a mid-size sport utility vehicle sold in North America and built by the Ford Motor Company since 1990.
. The incident happened at 2:40 p.m. Monday at Meadowridge Drive and San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  in Newhall.

``The delivery man ran in with the pizza and left the car unlocked and the keys inside,'' Somoano said. ``Someone hops in his car - when he sees that he tried to stop the theft of the car.''

The thief sped off, followed by a blue utility vehicle that Somoano said might have been driven by an accomplice accomplice: see accessory. . It was that vehicle that hit Daher, leaving him with some minor injuries.

``We're thinking it could have been a crime of opportunity. These guys see he left the car there and they're thinking, Hey, free car,'' Somoano said.
