The Antelope Valley
 can expect delays this week from an asphalt asphalt (ăs`fôlt, –fălt), brownish-black substance used commonly in road making, roofing, and waterproofing. Chemically, it is a natural mixture of hydrocarbons.  paving project.

From 280th Street West to Old Ridge Route The Ridge Route, officially the Castaic-Tejon Route,[2] is a narrow two-lane highway in the northern Greater Los Angeles Area of the U.S. state of California.  Road, about five miles east of Gorman, the highway will be reduced to one lane, with east- and westbound traffic taking turns using it, Caltrans officials said.

Flagmen will direct traffic during the lane closure, which will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Motorists may experience delays of up to 30 minutes, Caltrans said.

Estimated cost of the repaving work is $800,000, and it is expected to be completed this month.
