DEI Introduces the PCO-7810, High Frequency Pulsed Laser Diode Driver Module.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 2003

Directed Energy An umbrella term covering technologies that relate to the production of a beam of concentrated electromagnetic energy or atomic or subatomic particles. Also called DE. See also directed-energy device; directed-energy weapon.  Incorporated (DEI), a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock.

In other words, the parent company owns the company outright and there are no minority owners.
of IXYS Corporation (Nasdaq:SYXI), and a leading edge supplier of advanced laser diode A semiconductor-based laser used to generate analog signals or digital pulses for transmission through optical fibers. Both laser diodes and LEDs (light-emitting diodes) are used for this purpose, but the laser diode generates a smaller beam that is easier to couple with the smaller core  drivers, pulse generators and RF and switch-mode semiconductors, has developed and introduced the PCO-7810 pulsed laser diode driver.

The PCO-7810 is a compact, economical OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  laser diode driver module designed to provide extremely fast, high current pulses to drive laser diodes in range finder range finder

Used to measure the speed of logic and memory chips, a nanosecond can be visualized by converting it to distance. In one nanosecond, electricity travels approximately a foot in a wire.  pulses.

The PCO-7810 uses the proven switching technology developed for DEI's PCO-7110 series of laser diode drivers. Building on this successful product line, the PCO-7810 incorporates an internal high voltage DC power supply to support the high current output, and an internal trigger generator. The driver operates on 24VDC VDC Volts Direct Current

support power, providing stand-alone operation. With the supplied heatsink, the PCO-7810-40-4 can operate at pulse repetition frequencies up to 200KHz at 40 amperes output current.

Two standard models are offered in the PCO-7810 product line, providing pulse currents ranging from 4 to 50 amperes, and pulse widths from 5 nanoseconds to 15 nanoseconds, at frequencies as high as 200KHz. The PCO-7810 is designed to be an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) style product in which the current pulse may be readily customized to the diode type and application.

"Utilizing IXYS RF MOSFETs, the PCO-7810 offers the same high-speed switching technology as our highly successful PCO-7110 drivers, plus the added benefit of an internal high voltage DC power supply and trigger generator," explains Ron Sherwood, President of DEI. "These additions make the PCO-7810 very attractive to designers of range finder, LIDAR, illumination and communication systems, in which a high performance, highly integrated driver provides an economical, high performance OEM solution."
