DEFENDANT ADMITS TO 28 HOLDUPS.

A Burbank man defending himself in a ``three strikes, you're out'' case agreed to plead guilty Wednesday to 28 counts of robbery in exchange for a 50-year prison term.

Fisch said Sylvester likely will spend the next 40 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.

Sylvester has acted as his own attorney since September 1995, a month after his arrest.

He had waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was ready to start with trial, but changed his mind at the last minute and agreed to the plea bargain plea bargain n. in criminal procedure, a negotiation between the defendant and his attorney on one side and the prosecutor on the other, in which the defendant agrees to plead "guilty" or "no contest" to some crimes, in return for reduction of the severity of the  offered by the prosecution, Fisch said.

Sylvester has made one more request from the court: He wants to be married to his co-defendant, Traci Hendricks, 27, of Van Nuys, when he is sentenced May 22 at Van Nuys Superior Court.

Judge Charles Peven has agreed to perform the ceremony, but only after Sylvester is sentenced, Fisch said.
