She had work to do when she got home.

``I thought I had a lot, but this is unbelievable,'' Prouty said of one home she toured in Westlake Village as part of the fund-raising fund-raising, large-scale soliciting of voluntary contributions, especially in the United States. Fund-raising is widely undertaken by charitable organizations, educational institutions, and political groups to acquire sufficient funds to support their activities.  event. ``I've been decorating for a week, and I don't have nearly the amount they have.

``I was trying not to overdo it, but I guess you can't.''

Each of the four homes featured on the tour were chock-full of holiday decoration. So full in fact that at least one of the four homes blew a fuse - and the Fire Department was called to a second home when residents smelled burning wires.

An electrical circuit had apparently burned out at the McCrite home, but once the firemen gave the go-ahead, visitors began touring once more.

``I'm just so disappointed for the people visiting. There was so much more. There are 3,000 lights on the (main) tree,'' Carolou McCrite said while she waited for an electrician so the displays could be turned back on.

Still, she said she was enjoying the day.

``I love this. I love to share it because this is what I do,'' McCrite said. ``I get a lot of enjoyment putting it up.''

Most, including the Risvolds, said they didn't decorate much differently than they do every year.

``That's why they've been after us for three years to do this,'' said Jerry Risvold, who put the lights and Nativity scene A nativity scene, also called a crib or crèche (meaning "crib" or "manger" in French) generally refers to any depiction of the birth or birthplace of Jesus. ``It's nice to see so many people enjoying it, after all that work,'' Kaarin Risvold said.

Most of the visitors didn't have time to notice some of the problems the homeowners faced during the afternoon. They were too busy getting their own decorating ideas and admiring the homes - all of them standouts even without Christmas touches.

Robbie Grange of Westlake Village was eager to get to the other homes after finishing her tour of the Risvolds' house.

``It's interesting to see the decorations and the themes - how people put things together,'' said Grange, who has gone on the tours for the last three years. ``This one is Victorian. Each one is done very differently.''
