[Folklore: Binder, 85] See : Virility , said it took her a total of 44 hours to decorate all three trees, which are artificial firs. Dingus has been doing the angel tree for two years, and this year decided to do the two other trees. It took four months of shopping at various toy stores to buy the needed Barbie dolls and toy cars and trucks. ``I thought I didn't want to do anything traditional. That's when I started with the concept to do something different,'' Dingus said. Dingus was inspired to create an angel tree when her daughter gave her some angel figurines after the death of Dingus' son, who committed suicide more than two years ago a few weeks short of his 24th birthday. Creating the tree gave her comfort and helped her in her grieving process. The stately tree is decorated with angels dressed in glittery gold brocade, gold-wired silk ribbon, gold bells and gold and ivory ornaments. The Barbie doll tree was done for a granddaughter, but Dingus found adults enjoy the tree as much, if not more. ``When I saw the delight that all the adults had in the tree, it's just amazing. For almost every person that came to see it, you can see the kid come out,'' Dingus said. The tree bears more than 20 Christmas Barbies and Purple Passion Barbies. The tree is trimmed in purple and gold lights and ornaments, and its base is wrapped with purple net and tulle Tulle (t l, Fr. tül), town (1990 pop. 18,685), capital of Corrèze dept., S central France. Firearms and other goods are made there. Tulle was built around a 7th-century monastery. . The tree with cars and trucks was done for her fiance, Michael Murphy, a manager at a Saturn car dealership. It was supposed to be a surprise for him, but he helped decorate it after she had to get it ready sooner than expected for a party at her house. ``I thought men are just as much children as females,'' Dingus said. At the top of tree - where a star normally goes - is a small replica of a California license plate with the word ``NOEL'' on it. The tree lights from top to bottom are red, yellow and green like traffic signals. The models include land rovers, vintage autos, Chevrolet Camaros, Porsches and Volkswagens. Different color car dice hang from the branches. ``Material things don't matter. It's people,'' said Dingus, who describes herself as still being a child at heart. ``You should do something that makes somebody happy, especially if it can be your kid or parent because a smile, with a kid or an adult, is as beautiful as any ornament.'' Next year, Dingus plans to have five trees, with one to be installed in the den and another in the game room. The decorating themes are going to be a surprise.
