DeBeamont took over the lead between turns 1 and 2 and held the advantage until he went a little too high in turn 4. Encino's Shane Scully made one last attempt on the final lap when he went low between turns 3 and 4, but DeBeaumont held him off to win by 0.178 seconds. The USAC TQ Midget feature was just as entertaining. Johnson ruled the field for most of the 20-lap feature before being pressured on the final circuit, grabbing the lead on the second lap and increased it to as much as five car- lengths before a caution on Lap 12 closed the gap. That allowed Greg Edenholm to close in on the final lap. But the Agoura resident, who made a nice inside move coming off turn 3, could get no closer than 0.131 seconds. |
