DEBATE FIXED ON GURKHAS.THE decision to limit the numbers of Gurkha veterans allowed to settle in the UK is to face a parliamentary challenge after the Liberal Democrats secured a debate on the issue with Gordon Brown in the Commons on Wednesday. The Home Office's offer of UK residency only to the Nepalese soldiers who meet certain conditions was condemned as a "betrayal" last week by campaigners who estimated that no more than 100 would benefit from the arrangement.
