Police continued investigations Thursday into a flurry of collisions in the Valley on Wednesday that killed two people and seriously injured at least two others.

As of Thursday, no charges were filed against the driver of a United Parcel Service truck that hit LAPD Traffic Division Officer Jeremy Sutton. Sutton was collecting cones after a crash investigation in the 7600 block of Haskell Avenue, said Officer Mariana Gallegos of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Sutton suffered a concussion and a fractured leg and was listed in stable condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, police said.

The UPS truck was impounded and is scheduled to be inspected, Gallegos said.

Two pedestrians were killed in separate incidents Wednesday.

At 4:03 p.m., 85-year-old Ofelia Guzman of North Hills was struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway in the 9200 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.

Officer Michelle Lopez said the collision appears to be an accident, but it is still under investigation.

The second fatal collision happened at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday in Pacoima on Osborne Street, just east of Arleta Avenue. A 1991 Ford Crown Victoria taxi driven by Ernesto Montenegro of Panorama City struck a pedestrian as he crossed the street, said LAPD Officer Michael Fuller.

The identity of the person killed was unavailable pending notification of next of kin.

Another collision on Woodley Avenue and Plummer Street about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday seriously injured 33-year-old Sonia Andino. Andino remained in serious condition at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.
