LANCASTER - An Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  dean has been promoted to one of three empty vice presidential spots.

Dr. Rosa Hall, dean of student services, was named vice president of student services after a nationwide search, the college said. An employee of the college for six years, Hall will assume the new post effective June 1.

Hall replaces Dr. Don Mourton, who retired last year.

Trustees made the announcement following a closed-door session Wednesday.

Searches for the other two vacant positions - vice president of academic affairs and vice president of human resources - have been narrowed to two finalists each. Selections are expected to be made in a matter of weeks.

``I'm looking forward to working with Dr. Fisher and our new administrative team as the college prepares for growth and continues its focus on student success,'' Hall said in the college's announcement.

Hall will oversee student services functions, including admissions and records, assessment, counseling, disabled students, Extended Opportunity Program and Services, financial aid, Learning Center, library and student development.

The college said Hall intends to focus on a number of areas:

--Increasing the use of technology and self-service, including a new Web product for students and staff called Luminis.

--Continuing online services initiatives.

She went on to get a bachelor's degree in English from Florida Southern College History
The college was founded in Orlando in 1883, and moved to Leesburg in 1885 (some debate this to be the true establishment) under the sponsorship of the United Methodist Church and was open to both male and female students.
