DEAN GARDENS IN ATLANTA RANKS AS THE WORLD'S HIGHEST PRICED ESTATE FOR SALE AT $40 MILLION

ATLANTA, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Larry Dean, founder and chairman of Stockholder Systems, Inc., a computer software company located in Norcross, Ga., today placed his 60-acre estate in Atlanta on the market at a listing price of $40 million.
This is believed to be the highest known price for a private estate currently on the world market.
"The creation of Dean Gardens was inspired by the Butchart Gardens of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and the Bellingrath Gardens of Mobile, Alabama," said Dean of his 32,000-square-foot home and rolling estate along the Chattahoochee River. "Our vision was to create a timeless legacy that would be enjoyed by generations yet unborn. Our desire is to locate a buyer who shares our vision and will continue to fulfill the dream."
Dean selected the Sandy Springs office of Coldwell Banker/PREVIEWS, managed by Nancy F. Carll, to handle the international marketing of Dean Gardens. Carll believes Dean Gardens will attract international interest.
"The grandeur of Dean Gardens places it in a very rarefied atmosphere," said Carll. "Much like other great estates such as The Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California, Dean Gardens is destined for worldwide prominence. We have already received requests from private parties in Europe. Mr. Dean is offering creative financing and with the 1996 Summer Olympics coming to Atlanta, I believe we will have strong interest from corporations who are looking for a corporate retreat. Of course, there are only a select few who are in a position to purchase Dean Gardens, but then there are even fewer opportunities to own an estate of this magnitude."
The design of Dean Gardens began in March of 1988, and the estate was completed in August of 1992. The scope of Dean Gardens is exceeded only by the beauty of its details. The main home includes a 3,000- square-foot master suite, seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and 13 fireplaces. The three-and-a-half-story entrance rotunda features glass walls and opens to a Grand Salon that overlooks the swimming pool, formal gardens, lake and the Chattahoochee River.
Christopher Dean, the oldest son of Larry and Lynda Dean, accepted the challenge of designing the interiors of the home when he was 21. Dubbed "the star" of Dean Gardens by his father, Christopher devoted five years to creating the interior designs and selecting the vast myriad of imported antiques, art and one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted furnishings that fill the spectacular interiors.
"Working with all the artists and craftsmen on the home was the highlight of the entire design process," said Christopher Dean. "At one point, we probably had 30 to 50 artists and at least 200 craftsmen working at the same time. Everyone was 'inventing' at once, and I think it was this very special synergy that allowed the house to become what it is. There's something in this house that will please everyone."
Along with the 32,000-square-foot mansion, Dean Gardens includes a 10,000-square-foot carriage house with two apartments, an office and a "showcase" garage with space for 12 cars. The expansive grounds include a conservatory, an amphitheater, a greenskeeper home, an estate manager's cottage, a wedding chapel on the three-acre lake, numerous fountains, extensive formal gardens and an 18-hole, par 72 golf course.
Jason Dean, a Coldwell Banker/PREVIEWS sales associate, is the exclusive listing agent for Dean Gardens. Qualified buyers seeking a private presentation on Dean Gardens are invited to call Jason 404-250-5333. Photography and video available upon request.
