DEALS.Byline: blue chip Bulk Handling buys property in west Eugene Bulk Handling Systems has purchased the former Northwest Web property in west Eugene for a new headquarters. The 34-year-old company had been leasing space on Arrowsmith Road in west Eugene, and on North Danebo Avenue. President Steve Miller declined to give the purchase price, other than to say it was less than the $3 million the property was listed for. PeaceHealth exploring merger with Washington health system PeaceHealth, the parent corporation of Sacred Heart Medical Center, has begun merger talks with a Vancouver, Wash., health system. Southwest Washington Health System operates Vancouver's largest hospital. Both organizations are nonprofit corporations. PeaceHealth CEO Alan Yordy negotiations are expected to take six to eight months. Caf Yumm opening its first Portland outlet Eugene-based Caf Yumm! has begun construction on its 10th store, marking its first foray into Portland. The store, set to open at the end of May, is at 1806 S.W. Sixth Ave., part of the new Portland State University Recreation Center in downtown. Caf Yumm! said it plans to open three more stores by the end of 2010 in the Portland metro area, he said. Wildish wins bid to repave main runway at Eugene Airport Wildish Construction Co. of Eugene submitted the low bid and was awarded the contract for a $9.5 million project at Eugene Airport that will include repaving of the main runway. Work is scheduled to start in June and be completed by September. Federal Aviation Administration funding will pay for 95 percent of the project, with the city-owned airport covering the balance. Salem's Kettle Foods sold to Diamond Foods The producer of Pop Secret microwave popcorn and Emerald nuts has bought Salem-based Kettle Foods for $615 million. Diamond Foods is buying Kettle from Lion Capital, a London-based private equity firm. Lion bought Kettle in 2006 from founder Cameron Healy for what sources estimated was about $200 million. Hop Valley Brewing begins selling bottled beer SPRINGFIELD - Hop Valley Brewing Co. has begun bottling its beer, just a year after it started making and serving its ales at its Springfield pub. The beer is sold at Market of Choice, Bier Stein, Monroe Street Cafe and Beer Nuts Bottle Shop. Deal struck to work on state police communications network Silke Communications and Oregon Wireless Interoperability Network have signed an agreement to co-locate wireless communications equipment and infrastructure in an effort to modernize the communications capabilities of the Oregon State Police and Department of Transportation. The project cost is expected to total $400 million. |
