Headphones have a strap that rests on top of the head, positioning a pair of speakers over both ears. For listening to music or monitoring live performances and audio tracks, both left and right channels are required. (probably through seeing Phil Helmuth with them). I would encourage everyone to try playing without them. Yeah, you might look cool (or stupid) but if you try playing without them you can take in much more visual and audio information than you would with them on and find that not only are you doing better, but the game becomes more interesting as well. Poker is a game of information. You give information to your opponents and they give information to you, mostly in the form of betting patterns - and it's all of the right there for you to use while playing a hand. Physical and audio tells are also there. I constantly use my eyes and ears to take in everything that's going on around me. If I wore sunglasses and headphones much of that information would be lost to me. Headphones slow down the action and I believe they hurt the people who use them. When a player throws a large chip into the pot, they usually say 'raise' or 'call'. But players at the table wearing headphones have to take them off and ask what the bet is. Poker is a social game. It would be sad if it became a game where players sit listening to music and no one talks to each other. BIGGEST GAME IN TOWN..
