Today is the last day for residents and business owners to request a utility tax refund Tax refund

Money back from the government when too much tax has been paid or withheld from a salary.

People may drop off the requests at City Hall or have the requests postmarked with today's date to meet the deadline.

The city so far has calculated $273,008 in refunds, which have been paid out of a $1.3 million fund. An estimated 155 refund TO REFUND. To pay back by the party who has received it, to the party who has paid it, money which ought not to have been paid.

 applications from businesses and 1,341 from residents have been processed, said Carol Tubelis, administrative assistant for the city.

Residents applying for a refund either must provide copies of utility bills from October October: see month.  1995 to July July: see month.  1996 or from three recent, consecutive months so that the city can calculate an average. Business owners must provide copies of utility bills from the 10-month period.
