DEADLINE LOOMS ON LAND SALE; NO OFFERS RECEIVED FROM PUBLIC AGENCIES SEEKING SIMI DISTRICT SITE.

Byline: Sylvia L. Oliande Daily News Staff Writer

As the deadline nears for public agencies to apply to purchase a prime piece of school district land, Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  officials said they've had no offers.

The school board discussed the 36-acre plot on the corner of Tapo Canyon Road and Alamo Alamo

``It's a major decision, and we want to make sure we're doing everything in the best interest of the district, now and for the future,'' school board President Janice DiFatta said. ``We're not looking for Looking for

Public agencies have about two more weeks to respond to a letter sent out by the district in early February.

Simi Valley officials had offered to buy the land from the district, suggesting the city broker the land sale so that schools would have the money faster than if the district were to sell it.

But school district officials have never expressed an opinion on the offer, and school officials have said they chose instead to wait until the city made a formal overture overture, instrumental musical composition written as an introduction to an opera, ballet, oratorio, musical, or play. The earliest Italian opera overtures were simply pieces of orchestral music and were called sinfonie. .

City officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday, but they have said that they were waiting to see if their services were going to be necessary before submitting a letter of intent.

School board member Norm Walker said Wednesday that ``the clock is still ticking ticking

He added that he believes the city would be under the same constraints as the school district, so it wouldn't necessarily expedite ex·pe·dite

Joyce Madhesian said that to her knowledge the school district has not received any offers from public agencies during the nearly 60-day application period.

The district has, however, received several inquiries about the property from private development companies. Madhesian said she did not know specific developers or the particulars about projects being considered for the land.

School officials estimate they can get from $10.5 million to $15 million for the property, now used as a seasonal fruit and vegetable stand and the only vacant corner at the intersection, which also contains the Civic Center.
