DEAD WRONG; Martin Luther King plaque honours killer.

A PLAQUE honouring black actor James Earl Jones Earl Jones may refer to:

 praised Martin Luther King's killer James Earl Ray ''This article or section is being rewritten at , and sourcing.]] James Earl Ray (March 10, 1928 – April 23, 1998) was convicted of the assassination of American civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., which occurred on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.  instead.

Jones, 71 yesterday, was due to receive the tribute from his home town to mark Monday's Martin Luther King Day.

But when the plaque returned from the engravers it read: "Thank you James Earl Ray for keeping the dream alive."

Ray was convicted of murdering civil rights leader King at a Memphis motel in 1968. The company that ordered the plaque called the mistake "chilling and eerie ee·rie or ee·ry
