DE HAVILLAND DASH 8 DELIVERED TO WIDEROE'S FLYVESELSKAP A/S OF NORWAY

DOWNSVIEW, Ontario, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Wideroe's Flyveselskap A/S of Norway today took delivery of the first of up to 15 de Havilland Dash 8 aircraft ordered from the Bombardier Regional Aircraft Division.
The order, announced last December, calls for delivery of six 37- passenger Dash 8 Series 100s during Bombardier's fiscal year ending January 31, 1994. Two more will be delivered in the following fiscal year with the remaining aircraft, for which Wideroe has a cancellation option, scheduled for delivery by 1996. Value of the total contract, including the seven conditional aircraft, is approximately U.S.$160 million plus spares provisioning and training.
In addition, Wideroe has an option on a further four Dash 8 aircraft.
These aircraft incorporate the more powerful PW 121 engines which increase shaft horsepower to 2,150 from the standard 2,000 shp, providing improved airfield and climb performance at equivalent weights. They also include recent Dash 8 product improvements such as expanded tailwind and crosswind envelopes which enhance dispatch reliability and schedule-completion rates at smaller, single-runway airfields and will provide reduced interior noise through the introduction of Tuned Vibration Absorbers (TVAs).
With this order, Wideroe continues its tradition as de Havilland Canada's longest-standing airline customer -- a 40-year association. The airline previously operated DHC Beavers, Otters, Twin Otters and Dash 7s. The carrier currently operates eight de Havilland Dash 7s and 12 Twin Otters on Norway's domestic air transport routes, and the Dash 8s will be introduced on routes that serve the Norwegian district communities.
To date, 262 Dash 8 Series 100s and 87 Series 300s have been delivered.
The Bombardier Regional Aircraft Division markets and supports the de Havilland Dash 8 family of regional turboprop airliners and the new Canadair Regional Jet.
De Havilland, Canadair and the Bombardier Regional Division are units of Bombardier Inc., a Canadian corporation with 34,000 employees internationally and annual sales of more than $4.4 billion. Bombardier Inc. is engaged in the fields of aerospace, transportation and motorized consumer products.
