AMERICAN FORESTS American Forests is a nonprofit conservation organization that promotes healthy forests and urban tree planting.

The organization was established in 1875 as the American Forestry Association, by physician/horticulturist John Aston Warder and a group of like-minded citizens
 recently cosponsored the 7th annual Week in Washington, which teaches forest practitioners about the federal legislative and policy processes and how to participate. The event, held June 14-18, was also sponsored by the National Network of Forest Practitioners, the Pinchot Institute for Conservation, the Communities Committee of the Seventh American Forest Conference, and the Society of American Foresters.
