DBI buys two Cal distribs.

The La Vergne, TN-based DBI Beverage is buying two large beer distributorships in Northern California.

DBI wouldn't comment on terms of the deals for San Joaquin Beverage Co. and Capital Beverage Co., but said that the two additions should boost the annual revenues for the beer distributor from about $290 million to as much as $400 million.

Expected to close in early 2009, the sales will mean the company will now operate six DBI distributorships in Northern California and one in Memphis. DBI is headquartered in Middle Tennessee because CEO David Ingram lives there.

Mr. Ingram, 45, launched DBI in 2002, when he bought Crown Distributing Co. in Memphis, TN. Mr. Ingram also heads up Ingram Entertainment, a media company that brings in more than $850 million a year and is the country's largest distributor of DVDs and videos. He is the youngest son of billionaire Martha Ingram and her late husband, Bronson Ingram.
