XPLOR (Xplor International, Torrance, CA, www.xplor.org) A membership organization founded in 1981 dedicated to enhancing the use of electronic document systems. With more than 2,000 organizations as members, benefits include newsletters, surveys, catalogs and conferences. , Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1995--DAZEL Corporation today announced an enhanced version of the DAZEL Output Management System, the leading solution for generating output for production client/server applications. The DAZEL Output Server version 2.4, now available with new graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI)

and file servers. The DAZEL Express client version 1.2, also with new GUI, provides enhanced job tracking and queue management support. The support for additional output destinations allows customers to leverage their existing processes and systems infrastructure.

"DAZEL Output Server 2.4 was designed to provide our customers the ability to utilize their existing investment in capital equipment, including printers, mainframes and other environments, whether these are network attached or locally attached Refers to disks, printers and other peripheral devices that are connected directly to a computer via USB or FireWire. Such devices may be designed for desktop use or portability. For example, a locally-attached, stationary hard drive may weigh three to five pounds, while one made for . Our customers also needed the flexibility to use DAZEL to output files to storage devices as well as to hardcopy," commented Robert Fabbio, founder and president, DAZEL Corporation.

The DAZEL Output Server version 2.4 provides users with access to networked and non-networked printers via networked host systems, such as Mainframe, Novell NetWare server or PC. DAZEL Output Server 2.4 also allows users to output to new destinations including CD- ROM, magnetic tape, and file servers. The DAZEL Output Server version 2.4 provides additional output destinations and greater control of output processes and resources. New destinations complement existing printer, fax, e-mail and alphanumeric pager support.

Extended output capabilities leverage existing systems and infrastructure

LPR-out -- The LPR-out facility allows DAZEL to extend its current capabilities of printing to both networked and non-networked output destinations to include locally-attached printers connected to networked PCs, mainframe and Novell NetWare systems, regardless of DAZEL being installed on the client system.

Digital Paging -- DAZEL now supports Digital paging in addition to existing Alphanumeric paging.

Parallel-port connectivity support -- DAZEL now allows users to connect output devices via either serial or parallel connections.

Enabled Document Storage

DAZEL now supports document storage via the new File System capability that allows jobs (files) to be output to CD-ROM or magnetic tape, or transferred to a file server for storage electronically or on disk.

New Graphical Interface

DAZEL's new administrator graphical user interface (GUI) allows users to manage job, queues and logical destinations using a drag-and-drop interface, providing greater control and serviceability of output destinations and processes. The new DAZEL Output Server GUI complements the new DAZEL Express end-user GUI, providing for the first time both a system administrator GUI and an end-user GUI in an output management system.

DAZEL Express client offers greater flexibility

Interoperating with DAZEL Output Server 2.4, DAZEL's new Express client version 1.2 provides an easy-to-use, more intuitive end-user graphical interface for enhanced job tracking, including dynamic job status updates, and specification of job attributes (e.g. document groups and packages, delivery times and print format for documents going to both local and remote output destinations). With DAZEL Express 1.2, users can now fax via DAZEL or WinFax. DAZEL Express 1.2 also incorporates a new print image viewer, for enhanced viewing of output jobs, ensuring better output results.

"Whereas some of the more recent print-only solutions have just begun to ship initial product, or will begin shipping next year, DAZEL's second generation product is available and in use now at Fortune 500 companies and with thousands of users. With this recent product announcement, we continue to deliver a full-featured product to meet customer and market demands, and maintain our leadership position in the output management market," continued Fabbio.
