DAYS INNS SEND DISASTER RECOVERY TEAM INTO SOUTH FLORIDA
 PARSIPPANY, N.J., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- A disaster recovery team

from Days Inns of America has been sent to South Florida to help franchisees reopen their damaged properties as quickly as possible.
The team left for Ft. Lauderdale today. Specialists in Days Inns' Satellite Reservation System, Quality Assurance and Franchise Services made up the team.
"Our Days Inns team in Network Control in Phoenix, Reservations in Knoxville, and Franchise Services in Parsippany, has been working tirelessly since 6 a.m. Monday to try to get a handle on the situation, and lend whatever assistance we could," said John Russell, Days Inns president.
"Our concern is to get our franchisees up and running as quickly as possible. This team of highly experienced people will spearhead any assistance or services we need to provide to our franchisees. If additional expertise is needed it will be quickly dispatched," he said.
Yesterday, Days Inns announced it would give a 50 percent discount on rooms to displaced residents and disaster relief workers on a space available basis at Days Inns south from Tampa and Melbourne.
Russell said that they have only been able to confirm the Days Inn at Homestead, which bore the brunt of the storm, as being destroyed. He said there has been no contact with properties in the Florida Keys.
"Conditions vary. We have properties that are open, but without water. Others have been damaged, have no water and no utilities, but are open because they are dry and capable of providing shelter for people."
Properties in Miami generally sustained minor damage from wind or water, but are open. Properties in West Palm Beach were not damaged and are open; Key West properties have no power or water, but are open despite damage; and properties in the Naples and Ft. Lauderdale areas are all open.
"Communications with our properties is extremely difficult right now," Russell said. "We decided that it would be best to deal with the situation on site."
