DAY OF PRAYER AREA RESIDENTS AND POLITICIANS GATHER TO REFLECT.

The Antelope Valley
 residents gathered Thursday to pray for their nation, leaders, youth and military personnel on the National Day of Prayer.

Some 1,200 people prayed at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  in the 14th annual Lancaster Mayor's Prayer Breakfast organized by local Christian businessmen. Some of them gathered again at noon to hold hands and pray in the plaza outside Lancaster City Hall.

``It's to reflect the fact it's a day of prayer,'' said Steve Baker Steve Baker (born September 8, 1978 in Pontefract, West Yorkshire) is an English professional footballer who is a defender and currently plays for Gateshead.

Baker has played for a number of clubs including Middlesbrough, Huddersfield Town, Darlington, Hartlepool and
, executive director of Grace Resource Center food bank in Lancaster and one of the organizers. ``It creates the opportunity for people who want to be a part of it to know it's important.''

Hall, the daughter of a pastor, said she wasn't certain earlier in her career if she wanted to tell people she was a Christian. But word got around, and co-workers would approach her conspiratorially to ask her to pray for them.

``They'd look over their right shoulder, they'd look over their left shoulder and they'd say, 'We heard you pray,''' said Hall, who is currently host of ``America at Worship'' on the Hallmark Channel.

She told the audience: ``People are watching your love and they are watching your prayer life.''
