DAY IN SPORTS: EDICK'S 59 CARRIES HART TO GOLF WIN.

Sophomore Brian Edick shot 2-under-par 59 to lead No. 5-ranked Hart (25-6) past No. 8 Valencia (20-9) and No. 6 Notre Dame (10-4) Wednesday in nonleague golf at Vista Valencia.

Hart shot 318. Valencia, getting a par 61 from David Cox, shot 334. Notre Dame, led by 65s by brothers Tommy and Dan Barber, had four players (instead of the minimum five) and had no team score.

In other matches, Peter Heilbron shot 2-under 70 to lead No. 2 Calabasas (9-1) to a season-low team score in a 380-410 nonleague win over Nordhoff at Calabasas CC, and North Hollywood improved to 7-1 in City 4-A League play as Matt Ansis shot 2-over 38 to pace a 216-225 win over Cleveland at Hansen Dam.

In college baseball:

--Toreros top CSUN: Bobby Koba homered and Aaron McKenzie tripled twice for Cal State Northridge (12-22) in an 8-5 nonconference loss to host San Diego (20-17-10).

In prep softball:

--ECR romps: Melissa Coogan pitched a one-hitter and Christina Enea had three hits and four RBI as No. 5 El Camino Real (12-2-1, 4-0) scored a 14-0 West Valley League win over host Granada Hills (6-10-1, 2-2).

--Showdown set: Grant and Poly improved to 6-0 in Sunset 6 League play to remain tied for first going into next week's two head-to-head meetings. Larry Brown's complete-game four-hitter sparked Grant (8-5, 6-0) to a 4-0 win over visiting Hollywood (3-6, 0-6), and George Carrera homered for Poly (9-3, 6-0) in the Parrots' 6-3 home win over North Hollywood (7-8, 4-2).

In boys' volleyball:

--Warriors roll: Ryan Foltz had nine kills as Westlake (10-1, 6-1) swept Agoura 15-4, 15-4, 15-6 in Marmonte League play.
