DAY IN SPORTS: WRESTLERS COMPETE AT U.S. FINALS.

Section-champion wrestlers Raphael Reynolds of San Fernando High and Kenji Porter of Harvard-Westlake of Studio City completed record-setting senior seasons at the 16th U.S. High School Senior Wrestling Championships in Cleveland.

Reynolds (63-4), a four-time City Section champion who won seven consecutive elimination-bracket matches to finish an all-time City-best fourth at the state championship, went 2-2 at 160 pounds at the national championship. He was 1-1 in the championship and consolation brackets at the nationals.

Porter (55-9), the most successful wrestler in Harvard-Westlake history, won his second consecutive Southern Section title this season - at 189 pounds, after winning at 215 last year - and finished 1-2 at the nationals.

Porter wrestled against champions in his final two high-school tournaments, losing to state titlist Jake Varner of Bakersfield in the state meet and national champion Mike Pucillo of Walsh Jesuit of Cuyahoga Fallas, Ohio, at the U.S. championships.

PREP SOFTBALL

NORTHERN LEAGUE

--Eagle Rock 6, Marshall 0: Junior Melissa O'Connor pitched a no-hitter with six strikeouts and catcher Erica Kula doubled, tripled and drove in three runs to lead host Eagle Rock (8-3, 4-0) past Marshall of Los Angeles (13-3, 3-1) in a first-place showdown.

VALLEY MISSION LEAGUE

--Kennedy 8, Monroe 0: Junior Kaleigh Sanchez pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Kennedy of Granada Hills (7-6, 1-1) defeated host Monroe of North Hills.

Sophomore Crystal Meraz went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Kennedy.

BOYS' SWIMMING

WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

--Cleveland 131, El Camino Real 55: Michael Chiu won the 100-yard backstroke (57.3 seconds) and 200 individual medley (2:09) to lead host Cleveland of Reseda (4-0, 3-0).

GIRLS' SWIMMING

WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

--Cleveland 111, El Camino Real 74: Chungah Rhee won the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.06) and 500 freestyle (5:23.2) to lead host Cleveland of Reseda (4-0, 3-0) past El Camino Real of Woodland Hills (3-2). Jessica Chen won the 50 freestyle (25.2) and 100 freestyle (55.5) for ECR.
