Kyle Brockett nearly stole the limelight, breaking up the no-no with a leadoff hit the fifth and another basehit in the seventh for Westlake (10-12, 4-6).

Bird, however, would not be denied. He was 3 for 3, including the game- winning single in the top of the seventh, scoring David Fonseca David Fonseca was born in Leiria, Portugal, in 1973. He studied Cinema at Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa between 1992 and 1994, where he obtained a degree. David first began his professional life as a photographer, working for various fashion catalogues.  for first- place Thousand Oaks (15-6, 9-1).

Valley Mission League

--Kennedy 16, Van Nuys 0: Host Kennedy of Granada Hills (16-9, 10-0) scored two runs or more in each inning and finished with 16 hits, seven for extra bases, in a game that was called after the fifth because of the mercy rule A mercy rule, also well known by the slightly less polite term slaughter rule (or, less commonly, knockout rule and skunk rule), brings a sports event to an early end when one team has a very large and presumably insurmountable lead over the other team. .

Michael Soto pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts.

Marmonte League

--Royal 6, Agoura 1: Clayton Edwards threw his fourth complete game of the season, this time a five-hitter for host Royal of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  (13-9, 6-4). The junior had five strikeouts to improve his record to 7-0 and lower his ERA to 1.26.

PREP SOFTBALL softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  

Mission League

--Chaminade 3, Alemany 0: Chaminade of West Hills (16-6-1, 6-0) got consecutive singles from Brianna Barth, Veronica Barth and Lauren Christie and Kim Weinstein followed with a double to rally for three runs in the top of the ninth and win on the road.
