DAY IN SPORTS: VALENCIA SOFTBALL GETS UPSET WIN.

Valencia High came through with perhaps its most significant softball victory in school history Saturday.

The Vikings defeated previously undefeated Corona 3-0 in the semifinals of the 23rd annual Woodbridge tournament at Bill Barber This article is about Bill Barber, Canadian ice hockey player. For Bill Barber, American tuba player with Miles Davis, see Bill Barber (musician).

< Corona is ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Div. I poll and No. 2 in the Cal-Hi Sports state rankings.

Valencia (14-1) played in the championship game late Saturday night.

Valencia's Jordan Taylor held Corona (17-1) to four singles and struck out six batters, and fellow sophomore Kristen Aidem singled twice, scored a run and drove in a run.

Valencia 7, El Toro El To·ro

La Val added a two-run single in the sixth inning, as Valencia (15-1) took advantage of six errors to win its ninth consecutive game.

Jordan Taylor (10-1) pitched the final three innings, recording a strikeout with the bases loaded for the last out.

CHATSWORTH TOURNAMENT

--Sylmar 8, Cleveland 7: Steve Luna hit a two-out home run in the sixth inning to give Sylmar the win over Cleveland of Reseda (12-7) in a pool- play game.

Luna also pitched the seventh inning to earn his first save of the season.

Luna was the sixth and final pitcher Sylmar used in the game.

Eddie Morfin finished 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI and Ruben Zuniga (2 for 3, RBI) also also homered for Sylmar (13-8).
