The Vikings remained poised and rallied to win the next three games for a 23-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-17, 16-14 victory. ``After we won the third game, we knew we could beat this team,'' Valencia coach Ray Sanchez said. Nicole Piva's play was as big a reason as any for the turnaround. The junior was at her best during the middle two games when she used her jump serve to score 10 points, four of which were aces. ``She had a huge impact on the game. Huge,'' Sanchez said of Piva, who also had nine kills. ``She put us over the top.'' Teammate Lauren Wells also played better as the match wore on. The 5-foot-9 junior had four kills in the first two games and nine in the final three. Taryn Robertson added 36 assists for Valencia (2-0). --Hart d. Quartz Hill 3-2 Rachel Holbrook and Dana Patton each had key aces in the decisive final game to key a 20-25, 25-7, 25-19, 15-25, 15-7 nonleague victory for visiting Hart of Newhall (2-0).
