DAY IN SPORTS: VALENCIA PULLS OFF SWEEP.

Byline: Daily News

In a doubleheader Tuesday involving two of the area's better softball programs, visiting Valencia High swept Camarillo - the Daily News' top- ranked team - 4-1 and 8-3.

Valencia, ranked No. 4, won the first game behind timely hitting from Mallory DiFatta and Kortney Bell, both of whom hit solo home runs for the Vikings (3-1).

Christina Ross threw a complete-game, three-hitter with nine strikeouts but had her share of problems, particularly in the seventh when the bases were loaded with two outs.

However, she got Cambria Miranda to pop out.

It was more of the same in the second game as Valencia scored seven runs in the first two innings to distance itself from Camarillo (2-2), which scored once in the sixth and twice in the bottom of the seventh.
