``I just felt like I had to get it done,'' said Urias, who drove a 3-1 fastball from Sarah Dorr into right field to score Ginger Ayala.

``We had a lot of great opportunities and certainly enough chances to win the game,'' Willard said. ``Chanel really battled and didn't give us much to hit. She's a very talented pitcher.''

Camarillo had bases loaded with one out in the first. But Tripp struck out Melanie Douglas and De Ann Young. In the seventh, Camarillo had runners on second and third with one out before Tripp got Stephanie Byrne on a grounder to second and Cambria Miranda on a long fly out to center. Again Camarillo threatened in the eighth, putting runners on first and second. But Tripp struck out Dorr and Ryanne Fortney to squash the rally.

Dorr (4-3), a sophomore right-hander, held Rio Mesa hitless through five innings before Urias broke up the no-hitter with a single to center.

``It is about time,'' said Almanzar of Canyon's victory after being outscored by Hart 14-5 in two games this season. ``I pitched the first game against them and I left with the lead, but we lost (6-5). I wanted to get another chance to pitch against them.

``All day I was mentally preparing myself for this. I didn't talk much and friends would come up to me during school and try to talk to me, but all I ever said was 'Hart.'... They understood what I meant.''

Canyon took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out scoring single by Britton that brought in Eric Ashbrook. The Cowboys could have racked up more runs that inning, but prior to Britton's hit, leadoff batter Ryan Pipho was picked off at third base with one out. Canyon left 10 batters stranded on base in the game.

The Indians had many opportunities to score. The clearest chance was in the second inning when Hart had two runners on base and no outs. However, Almanzar settled down and retired the next three batters. The senior pitcher, who threw 95 pitches (52 for strikes), got into trouble in the seventh inning with runners on first and second with one out. An Ashbrook to Britton double play erased the threat to end the game.
