DAY IN SPORTS: TIGERS TOUGH IN GIRLS' TENNIS.

San Fernando's 5-2 Tuesday victory over host Chatsworth proved you can never count out the Tigers girls' tennis team.

Led by Michelle Ascencio and the doubles team of Anna Alvarado and Annette Mendoza, the Tigers remained undefeated at 3-0.

In singles play, Ascencio came back from a 7-4 deficit to win 8-7, 7-3 in the tiebreaker tie·break·er

Monroe (0-3) was led by the solid singles play of Karen Rosen, who defeated Leanne Chan 8-4.

In girls volleyball:

--La-la land:In a battle of Daily News-ranked teams, No. 8 La Canada defeated host and No. 10 Hart 15-5, 12-15, 15-12, 12-15, 15-10.

La Canada (5-1) was led by Vanessa Young's 31 kills and the all-around play of Tracy Neumeier, who had 56 assists, seven digs and seven kills.

In boys' water polo water polo, swimming game encompassing features of soccer, football, basketball, and hockey. The object of the game is to maneuver, by head, feet, or hand, a leather-covered ball 27 to 28 in. :

--Pool sharks: Newbury Park, led by Ryan Ameche and Aaron Barr, swam to a 13-7 victory over visiting Calabasas.
