DAY IN SPORTS: TEAMWORK LIFTS CLEVELAND IN OT.

Byline: Daily News

The Cleveland High boys' basketball team has relied on Nick Young to score and keep it close during games, and the senior delivered Saturday, finishing with 25 points.

However, it was his teammates - Loren Leath, Corey Duncan and Marlon Bright, in particular - who contributed when it counted most for the Cavaliers of Reseda in their 75-68 overtime victory against Price of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  in a California Hoops Challenge Tournament game at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

In overtime, Leath hit a crucial 3-pointer to cap a 6-0 run and Duncan and Bright each went 4 for 4 from the free-throw line free-throw line

to clinch the victory for Cleveland (14-3).

``(Teams) have a tendency to double- and triple-team Nick. But he still got us to overtime and then the guys picked up the slack,'' Cleveland coach Andre Chevalier said. ``It's important that we have other guys step up like we did tonight. If we can do that, and have more than one scorer on the court, it will be to our benefit.''

It certainly was Saturday against a traditionally tough program in Price, the four-time defending Div. V state champions.

Duncan, a sophomore, finished with a career-high 18 points, and Bright and Leath added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Young scored 15 points in the first half and had a team-high 11 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season.
