DAY IN SPORTS: SIAM RALLIES TO TIE OSBORN FOR GOLF TITLE.

Viewpoint High junior Ali Siam shot 3-under-par 64 Thursday at Westlake Village GC to come from three strokes off the pace and tie Jeff Osborn of Flintridge Prep for the Prep League golf championship.

Siam, who plays to a 1 handicap, offset his only bogey with four birdies in a final round that left him 64-64-128 and made him Viewpoint's first-ever qualifier for the Southern Section golf tournament.

He'll join co-champion and first-round leader Osborn (61-67-128) and 3-4 finishers Blake Moore (132) and playoff survivor Taylor Haden (135) of Pasadena Poly in the May 15 section individual qualifier at Montecito Country Club in Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850. .

--Moon, Westlake tops: Royal's Roy Moon won a second straight individual title and Westlake won its 11th team title in 12 seasons as the four-round Marmonte League championships concluded at Sunset Hills CC.

Moon finished 70-67-68-69-274 for an 11-stroke margin over second place Doug Miller of Westlake, while Royal's Scott Fulkerson, Westlake's Brian O'Flaherty, Simi Valley's Mark Modglin and Thousand Oaks' Kurt Taylor earned the other individual postseason berths.

Westlake averaged 371.8 to win the team competition by 41 strokes over runner-up Thousand Oaks. Royal took third to get the final berth in Monday's postseason team play at La Purisima GC in Lompoc.

--Benko best: Junior Ryan Benko of Alpha League champion Village Christian finished 79-73-152 to win the two-round league individual tournament that concluded at River Ridge GC. Brothers Amrit Nat (155) and Amit Nat (160) of Hillcrest Christian (Granada Hills) finished second and third to earn the league's final two individual postseason berths. Village Christian won the team title and will join Hillcrest Christian schools from Granada Hills and Thousand Oaks in team postseason play.
