Weatherspoon scored 20 points to give her 1,148 for her career, breaking the record set by Leslie Mui, who scored 1,131 points from 1996 to 2000. Weatherspoon also had four steals, setting a new school mark with 309 in her career. The previous best was 305 steals, held by Angela Terry (1996-98).

Krystal Clay led Grant (11-7, 3-0) with 27 points. Veronica Randolph had 16 points for Poly (1-2 in league).

In other girls' basketball:

--Showdown set: North Hollywood prepared for Friday's showdown with Grant with a decisive 64-28 victory over visiting Canoga Park (1-2 in league) in a Sunset 6 League game. Richelle Sherman had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Kaipresha Price added 12 points for the Huskies (10-8, 3-0).

--Quadruple-double for Grooms: Jevay Grooms had a quadruple-double, finishing with 24 points, 18 rebounds, 13 blocks and 10 steals as visiting Kennedy of Granada Hills knocked off Van Nuys 49-41 in a Valley Mission League game.

--Reed rebound queen: Deshaunda Reed had a school-record 26 rebounds to go with her 12 points as host Monroe of North Hills (8-5, 3-0) beat Reseda (4-7, 2-1) 70-44 in a Valley Mission League game.

In boys' basketball:

--Back on track: Sylmar appears to be back in form after a rough start this season, routing host San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina

 112-62 for its third consecutive Valley Mission League win. George O'Garro led the Spartans (8-8, 3-0) with 23 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals and six blocks.

--Hunters hold on: Cecil Brown had 17 points and host Canoga Park (9-9, 2-1) held on for a 62-59 victory over North Hollywood in a Sunset 6 League game. Ken Hauser had 15 points for the Huskies (12-5, 2-1).

--Opposite ends: Two Sunset 6 League teams going in opposite directions went head-to-head, with visiting Grant of Van Nuys knocking off Poly of Sun Valley 80-50. Mike Charleston had 18 points and Dewayne Anderson, Kevin Bernard and Gino Riley added 16 points each for the Lancers (13-5, 3-0). Juan Panuco led the Parrots
