Senior Brett Munster hit a first-inning grand slam, one of his two home runs, and had six RBI as Chatsworth beat rival El Camino Real of Woodland Hills for the second time this week, winning 10-5 in a West Valley League baseball game Thursday at El Camino Real.

Munster's monster game, which also included a double, made a loser out of Blake Gailen for the first time in his prep career. Gailen (5-1) had been 15-0 over the past two seasons but allowed all 10 runs, six of which were earned, in seven innings.

Chatsworth (12-0, 4-0) holds an early two-game lead over El Camino Real, the defending league champion.

In other prep baseball:

--San Fernando 7, Van Nuys 0: Steven Pujol had nine strikeouts in five innings and Tony Martinez struck out five of the six batters he faced in relief as San Fernando (6-6, 3-1) remained in first place in the Valley Mission League with the victory at home.

--Granada Hills 5, Birmingham 4: Jeff Rodner had a no-hitter through six innings, eventually earning the victory for host Granada Hills (4-8, 1-3) in the West Valley League upset over Birmingham of Lake Balboa (7-4, 3-1).

--L.A. Lutheran 18, Pilgrim 1: Junior Tom Myhrvold hit for the cycle, finishing 5 for 5 with three RBI and four runs for visiting L.A. Lutheran of Sylmar (6-5, 2-0) in its Heritage League victory.

In prep softball:

--Village Christian 5, Whittier Christian 0: Junior Lauren Nydam made her first appearance of the year, allowing no hits over three innings for visiting Village Christian of Sun Valley in an Alpha League game.

Nydam sat out all season with an injured right shoulder she suffered when the Menlo Park restaurant in which she was eating was struck by a car.

--San Fernando 1, Kennedy 0: Selena Salazar pitched a complete-game two-hitter with 13 strikeouts for visiting San Fernando (11-3, 3-0), the two-time defending Valley Mission League champions.

--Valencia 6, Chaminade 0: Tori Rocco gave up a first-inning single then settled down, striking out nine in a one-hit shutout for No. 3 Valencia (11-3) in a nonleague game at Chaminade of West Hills.

In boys' volleyball:

--Granada Hills d. Birmingham 3-0: After a 15-2, 15-1, 15-0 victory, first- place Granada Hills (9-0, 5-0) now turns its attention toward next week's key West Valley League matches against Taft of Woodland Hills and Chatsworth.

In boys' track:

--Loyola 91, St. Francis 36: St. Francis of La Canada couldn't prevent Loyola of Los Angeles from extending its dual meet winning streak to 102, the second-best run in California history.
