With first place in the Foothill League on the line, Christina Ross took it upon herself to lead the second-ranked Valencia High softball team to a 1-0 victory Thursday over seventh-ranked and host Hart of Newhall.

Ross not only pitched her school-record fifth no-hitter and second perfect game of the year, but she also drove in the game's only run with a single in the second inning.

She also struck out eight for Valencia, (16-4, 5-1) which moves into a first-place tie with Hart (11-8-1, 5-1). However, the league title is far from decided with each team having four games remaining.

West Valley League

--La Salle 190, Flintridge Prep 204: Flintridge Prep of La Canada's Brett Kanda earned medalist honors with a 3-under par round, which included four birdies, at the par 35 Brookside Golf Course Brookside Golf is a multi-course golf facility located in Pasadena, California. The facility offers two courses, the longer C.W. Koiner Course (Course #1) and shorter E.O. Nay Course (Course #2).  No. 2.

Mission League

--Notre Dame 192, Crespi 222: Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks' Nate Singhaseni and Kyle Borggrebe shared medalist honors, each shooting 1-under-par rounds of 36 at the Harding Golf Course.
