DAY IN SPORTS: OAKS CHRISTIAN SHOWS NO RUST.

Byline: Daily News

Caitlyn MacKechnie said she was surprised how well she and her Oaks Christian of Westlake Village teammates played in Monday's nonleague girls' soccer game against visiting Rio Mesa of Oxnard.

After all, the UCLA-bound midfielder and the rest of the Lions hadn't even practiced, let alone played a game, in 17 days.

In the end, all that mattered to MacKechnie, and Oaks Christian coach Jan Hethcock, was the final result: a 2-0 win.

``We've all been couped a. 1. (Her.) Cut off smoothly, as distinguished from erased; - used especially for the head or limb of an animal. See Erased.  up inside ready to play,'' said MacKechnie, who assisted on both Oaks Christian goals.

``We were all anxious and excited to step on our field and play our game. I think we came back very well (having not played since Dec. 18 against Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  of La Crescenta). I was happy with the shape we're in.''

Caitlyn's freshman sister Hannah scored on a rebound late in the first half after Rio Mesa goalkeeper Denise Camarena made a diving A DIV Associate of Divinity  save on her first shot.

Sophomore Nicole Sweetman recorded her team-leading ninth goal in the 47th minute for Oaks Christian, which extended its unbeaten streak to nine games.

Julia Humphries made five saves to record her sixth shutout this season and 24th in her career. Rio Mesa (3-10-1) missed a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.
