 girls' basketball team improved to 15-7 overall and 6-1 in Sunset Six League play and gave Rich Allen his 300th coaching victory Wednesday, defeating Verdugo Hills 61-23 at North Hollywood.

``Good players make for good coaches,'' said Allen, who has coached at North Hollywood for 17 years. ``I've always kept in touch with players, whether they have advanced to the next level or started families.''

Kaipresha Price had 21 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, and Richelle Sherman added 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Huskies.

--Reason to howl: Danny Barth scored the winning goal as the Frontier League-leading Calabasas Coyotes improved to 16-1-1, 5-1 with a 1-0 win over Malibu.

--Eagles, again: Chaminade got goals from Matt Ward and Bryan Borreson in a 2-1 Mission League win over Notre Dame, improving the Eagles to 14-4-1, 7-1-1. Notre Dame dropped to 6-9-2, 3-6-1.
